Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (“Phystech”) is the leading institute of higher education in Russian Federation training highly-qualified specialists in various areas of modern science and technology. The institute has a rich history. Its founders and early staff members were Nobel Prize winners P.L Kapitsa, N.N Semenov, and L.D. Landau. Nobel Prize winners are among its graduates as well. Many “Phystech” professors are leading scientists in Russia, among which are more than 80 academics and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences. From the beginning, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology has used a unique system for training specialists, known commonly as the “Phystech System,” which combines fundamental education, engineering disciplines, and student scientific research. Now the Institute is developing unique scientific infrastructure to carry out the cutting edge research in many fields of science.

Dolgoprudny (Russian: Долгопру́дный) is a town in Moscow Region, Russia, located about 20 kilometers (12 mi) north of Moscow city center. The town's name is derived from Russian "Долгий пруд" (dolgy prud, lit. "long pond")—a long and narrow pond situated in the northeastern part of the town. Population: about 120,000 (2023).

The territory of the town borders with Moscow in the south and in the east, Khimki in the southwest, and is limited by the Moscow Canal in the west and by the Klyazminskoye Reservoir in the north. The town can be reached by D1 (suburban train) from the Savyolovsky Rail Terminal of Moscow in about twenty minutes to one of the three platforms: Novodachnaya, Dolgoprudnaya, or Vodniki, or by bus shuttle from Rechnoy Vokzal, Altufyevo and Fiztekh stations of the Moscow Metro. The Dmitrovskoye highway connecting Moscow with Dmitrov and Dubna passes just east of the town.

Transfer

Despite the airport you will arrive, the cheapest and the fastest way to transfer to the center of Moscow is to use Aeroexpress trains https://aeroexpress.ru/en/. We strongly recommend you to land at Sheremetevo airport, because it is in the closest vicinity to MIPT and Dolgoprudny. If you are traveling to Dolgoprudny directly from Sheremetevo airport, the easiest way is to use the Aeroexpress train. Upon arrival at the airport, board to the Aeroexpress train, travel to the «Okruzhnaya» station and leave the station using your Aeroexpress ticket. From there, you can acquire a "Troika" card or purchase a ticket and board the first D1 train to Dolgoprudny (find more detailed description below).

The other way is to rent a taxi. Any taxy should cost you about 1 500 rubles to get Dolgoprudny from Sheremetevo. It is also the standart cost to reach any point in Moscow from MIPT. We recommend to book taxy using YandexGo (you can also download the app).

You also can use Aeroexpress bus to reach «Khovrino» Metro Staion.

How to get MIPT from Moscow

The fastest way to reach MIPT using public transport is D1 suburban trains. MIPT is located near «Novodachnaya» D1 station («Новодачная» in Russian). You can get to the D1 trains from the «Belorusskaya», «Savelovskaya», «Timiryazevskaya» or «Okruzhnaya» Metro stations (you can find the timetable here). The road to «Novodachnaya» takes approximately 25 minutes. You can easily walk to MIPT from «Novodachnaya» in 5-10 minutes (cross the railroad tracks and go along the path in the train movement direction).

We recommend you to use «Troika» card («Тройка» in Russian) during your trip in Moscow. «Troika» is a universal travel card for all kinds of Moscow transport (including Metro and D1). You can rent «Troika» and replenish its balance in ticket office on any Metro station. One-sided trip from any station of D1 in Moscow to «Novodachnaya» will cost you 76 rubles. Transfer between Metro and D1 is free with «Troika», which also might be useful. For more detailed information about Moscow travelcards see the web-site.

Alternatively, you can get to MIPT by Metro and bus:

Metro Station «Fiztekh». Go to the bus stop «Metro Fiztekh» («Метро Физтех») and take bus #555 to the last stop «MIPT» («МФТИ»). The bus ride will take about 10 minutes; Show on map
Metro Station «Altufyevo». Go to the bus stop «Metro Altufyevo 8C_8D_8E» («Метро Алтуфьево 8C_8D_8E ») and take minibus #545 to the «MIPT» stop («МФТИ»). The bus ride will take about 40 minutes; Show on map
Metro Station «Khovrino». Go to the bus stop «Metro Khovrino 2A» («Метро Ховрино 2A») and take bus or minibus #368 to the last stop «Dolgoprudnaya D1 station» («Станция МЦД Долгопрудная»). The bus ride will take about 40 minutes. You will need to go along the Pervomayskaya street to reach MIPT (10–15 minutes); Show on map

By car

There are three ways you can reach MIPT by car:

Turn from Dmitrovskoe highway onto Dolgoprudnenskoye highway, cross the railroad tracks, turn right from Lihachevsky prospekt to Pervomayskaya street, go straight to “MIPT” stop.
Turn from Dmitrovskoe highway onto Moskovskaya street, cross the railroad tracks, turn left to Sovetskaya street in 500 metres and pass it to the end. Turn left at the crossroads to Dirizhabelnaya street, turn left to Pavlova street in 750 metres, turn right to Pervomayskaya street, go straight to “MIPT” stop.
Go from Businovskiy proyezd to Lihachevsky highway. After about 3 kilometres turn right to Lihachevsky prospekt, turn left at the crossroads to Pervomayskaya street, go straight to “MIPT” stop.
